What Is Really Green Anyways?

So many items nowadays tote some sort of eye-catching logo boasting of eco-friendly qualities, ingredients of manufacturing processes. The Plight Of The Dairy Cow!

Being from the UK it is so heart wrenching to see the farmers having to protest. What is even more distressing is the plight of the dairy cow!

"The dairy cow is the world’s hardest working farm animal

Her situation is perilous. Across Europe she is being driven to higher and higher yields. The higher yielding cow is much more likely to suffer mastitis, lameness and infertility, leading to a shortened life. Cows in many European countries are increasingly kept permanently indoors,

Going Green Starts at Home

I was delighted to find the article below as it emphasises what I have always maintained and that is you can all do a little bit to make a huge impact. This article suggests that going green starts at home and suggests we re cycle our furniture!
How many times have we changed our suite for example when actually we could have re upholstered. What about the chest of drawers? With a little care we can bring that back to its original

Why Do We Have To Be Near Catastrophe Before Action Is Taken To Save The Earth?

Granted I am going back a few years here but I do remember the days when the words acid rain and ozone layer were on most people lips. We all knew that our Earth was in danger and we all knew the causes and strict measures were put in place to try and repair the damage. However it begs the question why do we have to be near catastrophe before action is taken to save the earth?
Damage is being carried out to our earth on an unprecedented

Italian Government Close To Helping Beagles?

Humanity does exist, its just such a shame that animals are still suffering in the name of research. A large establishment in Italy, Green Hill facility is said to be guilty of horrendous experiments on beagles. There is a huge backlash developing and the Italian people are increasingly angered by the goings on.

Protesters from around the world are now getting involved in protests, indeed on one such recent protest they managed to break into the facility and 'rescue'

The Ivory Trade Still Alive?

The Ivory Trade Is Still Rife.

I was shocked to find this article published by 'Traffic' exposing the fact that Ivory trading is still very much alive in the world. Thank goodness that there are so many organisations that are fighting this .

Please take a look at the excerpt I have published below

Peat For Gardens? Time to Consider The Alternatives.

I live in a very clay rich area and over the years I have used so many bags of peat on my garden to try and break the soil down that I have lost count. That is all set to change and I urge you to look at the article I discovered to find out why.

It appears that inadvertantly over the years I have been adding to the greenhouse effect more than I realised. I have discovered that when the peat bogs are mined they are firstly drained

McDonalds At The London Summer Olympics of 2012.

There has always been controversy following McDonalds and their impact on the environment. I have just read that they have surpassed them selves and the worlds largest fast food outlet will be McDonalds at the London summer olympics of 2012.
I feel uncomfortable by this for several reasons. They produce millions of tons of packaging that is used for a very short time and then discarded on the streets. You could argue that it

Mad Cow Disease: The Horrible Facts.

Here I go again revealing some pretty scary facts about mad cow disease. Why is it that lessons are never learned, why does it appear to be acceptable to risk this horrible disease breaking out again just so the meat manufacturers can make more money?
A cow in Calafornia has been tested positive for this dreadful disease. I remember the upsetting

Save Money By Going Green

It is high time that governments made a stance and encouraged more of us to save money by going green.  We all know about the global warming issue, and we all know that our natural resources such as gas are being depleted at a great rate. However, where is our incentive to go green?

We all enjoy jumping in our vehicles to run round the block to pick up our kids or run into the local shops. We love to feel warm

Moving Towards Cleaner and Sustainable Energy

A recent survey of Americans has confirmed that a significant 83% believe that the US should be moving more towards sustainable and cleaner energy sources.
This is such a great piece of information to discover, at long last there has been a really positive shift towards in my mind the biggest environmental problem. Our resources are drying up and we are raping this world at such a great speed that if we carry on the consequences will

Pigs Feel Pain Too

I am disturbed to discover that the horrific abuse of animals, in this instance pigs, is being carried out on a large scale in a supposedly civilised country the UK.

You will see how pigs are kept in cruel unnatural conditions, how little piglets are castrated, have their teeth clipped and tails docked without any anaesthetic!

Pigs feel pain too, along with all the other creatures who inhabit this world with us. It would appear that a certain mentality must take over

The Whole World Is In Danger Due To The Water Shortage!

England is drying up, its official the Country is in drought. Yes England, the country that everyone considers to be wet and forever green!
So is this a knock on effect of global warming or is it just a one off? Well I would suggest that the scientists know the answer to that one, but I also believe that it is a wake up call. Water is the one and only reason that we as a planet evolved. The whole planet is in a water

Every Step In The Right Direction Can Mean One Less Animal Dying Needlessly.

It is really understandable with the fast paced living that so many of us are subjected to and the having to watch every penny we spend that we don’t get the time to stop and think about the many important things in life. It’s all we can do to tend to our families. The majority of us are compassionate though and when it comes to animal testing especially for products that can be easily replaced with those that don’t require it then we are all for it.

The problem is we don’t get the

Hear The Cry Shopping!

Welcome to the site that will give you information on how you can shop ethically. I have felt compelled to build this site for many years as the modern world seems to be regressing into some very nasty and cruel practices when it comes to food manufacture.

At times you may find some of the articles up setting, however, it is my belief that some farming practices are not neccesary and it is hoped that if I/we can apply even a little bit of pressure by exposing some of the terrible practices

How Safe Is Your Night Time Environment?

We all worry about the environment when we step out our home, and we have learned to pay attention to the major indoor issues, but how often do we think about our sleeping environment? Many people that suffer from sleep problems can attribute this to there sleeping area. For those that suffer from allergies the bedroom can be a prime target for them.

o start with cat lovers will commonly let their pets sleep on their beds during the day. Although they may not have any known allergies to their feline friends in general there is the possibility that being close up and personal with the dander and hair that is left on the night pillows could be an issue for some restless nights.

Another issue that is not uncommon is the lack of air circulation in the sleeping area. Many of us keep our bedroom doors closed on a constant basis and during the winter months especially we don't realize just how stagnant the air can become. A air purifier in this area goes a long way in keeping a clean and comfortable sleeping environment.

Then don't forget about the dust mites a regular vacuuming of the pillows and beds as well as the room itself is a must.

If you suffer from sleep problems then pay a visit to  howtogetosleepx.com for some solution.

Getting The kids to Go For a Pro Green World

It isn't that kids don't want to become involved in their environment its usually that they have not been given the education or resources. However they are now being taught much more about this in school and they are becoming much more adept at recycling and not polluting in some ways.

There is another way though that recently come about that is really helping the kids to become involved. First there is a site where the kids can go to become crusaders for the environment. Its a mix of a make believe world and reality. A group of talking animals have become commanders for the environment and the kids pick which commander's group they want to join, then they become crusaders. The youngsters then complete assignments where they get to earn badges and have their own page on the site to display them. Its great fun for them and they are learning to take care of their planet.

Its at animalsgoinggreen.com Then the second is a new collection of animals going green series books. There are two versions of the each book. One is a short version for the little tots who don't quite have the attention span for long reads yet, and then there is a standard version as well.

Little programs like this will go a long way in helping the kids to become involved. Its one thing to educate them about the here and now but we need to get them to form a habit of caring for their earth so they will carry this with them into their future.

If you have an interest in the environment you may want to check out another very informative site called environment.whatshotx.com
